HISTORY
Since the beginning of the school on 3rd January 1946, Vijayaba National College is one of the leading schools in the Maho town with a student population of approximately 3000. It is situated in Maho, in the one out of the 25 central schools pioneered by the minister of education Mr.C.W.W.Kannangara with the idea of promoting the education in rural areas and to give equal facilities for the students in those schools.The school was opened temporary at the Balalla Boys School on 3rd January 1946 with 13 students and five teachers.Very soon the new buildings were built in Maho town and the school was shifted to Maho on 3rd January 1947. From then onward up to now it has offered a lot of learned people to various fields in the country. Presently around 3000 students are learning under the guidance of around 143 teachers
