The Matara centre of the SLIIT was established in 2001 and is situated in the heart of the Matara Town by the Broadway. The centre admits up to 100 students for the first year of the degree program. This was established for the convenience of students in and around Matara. This campus also has all facilities for the first year and second year students to follow the identical programmes as at other campuses. Students can earn the Higher National Diploma in Information Technology of the SLIIT at the Matara Centre. On completion of such studies, students can transfer to Malabe Campus to continue their studies towards the BSc degree and the BSc Honours degree.
