Description
Baththalangunduwa is an island lies in the Dutch Bay (Portugal Bay). A thin strip of an island about a mere five square kilometers in size, is located around 38 kilometers away from the town of Kalpitiya. The journey to Baththalangunduwa begins in Kalpitiya, where travellers will find the ferry that takes passengers to the island everyday except on Sundays. Boats operating from Kalpitiya are the only ones allowed to make the trip to this island. It takes 3 hours to reach Baththalangunduwa Island.The boats will operating Monday to Saturday by 8.30am. Parking available inside the park of fishery harbor.
Its an ideal destination for beach Camping ! The pure beauty of this island is unique with the culture and fishery traditions. The hospitality of people who are living in Baththalangunduwa will make your journey more beautiful and memorable.
Best time to visit this island is on December to April.

Nice place everyday morning start the boat at 8.30amThere people are very friendly and helpful.Helpful police... officers are there. Only working dialog coverage the islands 24 hours. Electricity is provided evening 6pm to 10 pm. Police officers said. There are 2 small shops U can buy drinking water but price is higher little. Better to go and get the experience. There are police and navy camps therefore u can go without any doubtread more

Without a doubt, I had the most amazing weekend at this place. Naveen, Anke, Mahesh & Kutti treated us as their family.... I loved the experience without electricity and network coverage in this chilling location. I took the phone out only to take pictures. I enjoyed every second. I highly recommend the people and the place to anyone who loves nature."We disturb the nature enough during the daytime.
