Description
Ridiyagama Safari Park is a 500-acre safari park in the Ridiyagama area of the Hambantota District, Sri Lanka.
It would be divided into six zones, where carnivorous animals will be in 4 zones and herbivores animals will be in 2 zones. Meanwhile, carnivore animals such as lions, tigers, and leopards will be in 2 zones of the carnivore section.
The first phase with the 35-acre African Lion Zone, 54-acre Sri Lanka Elephant Zone, and 80 acres World Zone was opened to the public. African, Asian, Australian Zones and a small animal kingdom is under construction as the second phase.

Nissanka Latha Mandapaya is a unique and ancient structure situated in Polonnaruwa. By definition a mandapaya is a... pillared structure which is open on all four sides and has a roof which protects the person inside from the sun. Nissanka Latha Mandapaya was built by King Nissanka Malla who ruled the kingdom of Polonnaruwa from 1187 to 1196. It is located near the western entrance of the Dalada Maluva which is the area that contains the most sacred and oldest monuments of the city of Polonnaruwa.Inside the Nissanka Latha MandapayaNissanka Latha Mandapaya is built on an elevated stone platform with many stone pillars around it. At the center of the platform stands a small stupa made of stone which has been partly destroyed along with time. As per the inscriptions on a stone nearby, the Nissanka Latha Mandapaya was used by King Nissanka Malla to listen to pirith which is the chanting of Buddhist scriptures.read more

There are not many animals to see, but it's a new experience for kids feeling & remembering Jurassic Park..😄 Rs... 350/= for local adults. If you are planning to visit in season or holiday, please check & reserve the tickets before coming.read more

Safari is good and satisfactory. Recommend to visit. Enjoyed the animal in open park but there was a considerable... waiting to get into the park may be because of long holiday period.If you go there during a long holiday, better call them prior and book a time slot. They are responsive on call and phone bookings are honored.read more

Visited with a family group with teen children in March 2021. The park is in development stage. The enclosures are... fairly spacious while still allowing visitors to have sufficient opportunity to view animals. Currently available zones house African lions, Bengali tigers, elephants and herbivores. Impressed by tigers and lions. Felt the current tour needs to rearrange, so that herbivores are visited first and tigers last.read more

Nice place to closely see animals. Specially lions, tigers, elephants, hippopotamus & others. Tickets fees are Rs 350... for local adults over 12 years, Rs 120 for local children between 3 to 12 years & free for below 3 years. 35 seater fully air conditioned bus provide by them with guidance. This safari part still under construction. More than 5 zones to be opened.read more

Excellent Safari park ! Wonderful to have something like this in SL !! You are guaranteed to see the rear animals and... glad to see they are not confined to cages ... Staff is doing a great job and facilities are good as well ... The air conditioned bus tour is included in the entrance ticket price or else you can hire your own safari Jeep for just 2000 rupeesread more

Currently only 4 zones in active including Lions, Tigers and elephants. Local adult Rs.350 for entrance. Ticket price... includes the bus ride. If you like you can hire a jeep foe Rs.2000.read more

This is a terrible place for animals! Large birds are lying in small cages barely enough for flying. It's clearly... visible how fat they have become due to this. The park has so much space, but the cages are very small compared to the size of animals. This is a place to enjoy their suffering! ANIMAL LOVERS, Please don't promote this type of places.read more

Super friendly staff and a highly recommended place if anyone is looking for a getaway near beach. They follow health... guidelines to the level best and spacious rooms with great view of sea and surroundings. Food is great and must appreciate friendly restaurant staff as well.read more

It's a beautiful open zoo in Sri Lanka.Hope Dehiwala zoo also maintain the same level like this.They are charging... 350/- for a local adult.A/C bus is giving by them to travel inside the park.Staff was very friendly.And the guide explained so much about the animals.Worth to go!read more

Great way to see free roaming animals living in a natural environment. 500 acres of land has 12 sections allocated for... each animal species. currently only 4 sections are operating. (Herbivores, Lions, Tigers and Elephants). Ample parking space.Make sure to make a reservation prior visiting. specially when you book an evening session ask for the closing time(may be 3pm or 5pm) they won't allow you in after that no matter what.read more

There were some animals, but I truly believe they can improve the quality of the park. They provide a free bus ride for... the entrance ticket. Guide is giving some important details about the park and animals, but bus ride was felt like a off-road rally. Nice place to visit with children.read more

Highly recommended for those who love to see animals from less distance. Safety and security are well organized.... Animals are kept in good condition. Overall well organized and well-maintained place. Animals are kept in good way. The guide taught us all the ways of feeding. They are planning to bring panther and leopard in this year.read more

It’s a amazing experience with wild animals. Can see their normal living style but still I can’t say it’s their own... habitats. Tickets are 350/- for adults. Zoo is providing transport inside zoo small vehicles not entertained. But buses are permitted to enter. Safari jeeps are available 7 seats. With safe grills and guide. Tickets money worth because they we feel animals are getting good care. Safe to visit. Hope it will open all sections in near future. Safari driver’s are helpful. Snacks are available in premises. Wash room facilities are very good.read more
