Water World
Welcome to Water World Kelaniya, the only public aquarium in Sri Lanka! Located on a scenic 5-acre property on the banks of the Kelani River, Water World is an aquatic wonderland that is home to a diverse collection of over 500 varieties of fish and invertebrates. Our unparalleled range of aquatic life includes freshwater, marine, and brackish water fauna and flora, from ecosystems around the globe. At Water World, you will witness rare and fascinating species such as Arapaima (The largest freshwater fish in the world), Lungfish (A fish that has real “lungs” like that of a human), Electric eel (The world's most dangerous electricity-generating fish) and Freshwater stingrays from the Amazon River.
Water World comprises impressive attractions such as over 150 display tanks and ponds with a total water capacity of over one million liters, a walking path built to look like a cave spanning of over 800 feet, a Shark Dome with 110,000 liters of seawater, and over 10,000 living aquatic organisms. The latest attraction at Water World is the Underwater Tunnel Aquarium. It was unveiled in the year 2013 and It is the first of its kind in South Asia. The Length of the tunnel is 30 feet.
Other attractions of Water World include live diving shows with the sharks (Only when suitable diving conditions exist) riding boats at the boatyard, hand feeding of fish and getting a hands-on experience of marine creatures at the “ Touch Pool”.
Bird Park
Welcome to the first Bird Park in Sri Lanka. Our colorful range of birds on public display includes the largest species collection of exotic parrots in the country. Visit us to interact with some of the most intelligent, precocious, rare and magnificently multi-hued members of the parrot family. The Bird Park is also the only public facility in Sri Lanka where you can experience the magic of the rainforest “Lories”. The rare and exotic species of birds showcased at Bird Park includes 7 species of macaws, 13 species of lories, 15 species of conure and 8 species of cockatoo.

The haven for a Thalassophile. Good food, good atmosphere. Would have been better if the room was bigger. Rooms lacked... coffee creamer, but had tons of tea and coffee. We had a punctured tyre, and the hotel staff was very helpful. Very grateful for that.read more

Well, this place is great, and if you get a chance it would be great if you can go and check the place out. The wish... are amazing and the way they've arranged the tanks really supports the experience, no distractions at all.However there are some, teensy tiny bit of faults with it hither and thither.One, some fish are in wrong tanks; the info. board above the tank shows something entirely different from what is in the tank, that is. But this of course isn't ALL the tanks, but three or four here and there. I know its hard to, perhaps change the tanks and stuff (I mean there are some humongous fish in some of those tanks) but that's their whole job right.The bird park is a bit disappointing, it looks like the poor creatures aren't in the happiest of conditions, and the layers of nets just don't support looking at them.HOWEVER, the tickets are at an affordable fee, and for that being able to see those amazing fish is just a great bargain itself.So, finally I'd say this is a must-visit. 😇read more

Nice and secluded place. Good amount of fishes and birds in the aquarium as well as in the zoo section.It's a good... place to visit especially for kids.It takes around 2-3 hours to see the entire place. Underwater tunnel aquarium is good and one can experience nice view from the tunnel and fishes floating around in the surrounding tube.Need to maintain the place well to attract more people who visit SRI Lanka, especially around Colombo.read more

Gorgeous clean resort with excellent customer service, very spacious ac room with open air bathroom that was excellent... idea 😀Every chalet has own Parking space front of the chalet , so no worries about vehicleFoods is limited choices but good & pool with lagoon view everything is more then we expectedThanks to akalanka to paddle with me boat & for his friendly service , definitely recommend to allread more

This place is having best collection of water creatures you may found anywhere else for the price you pay, and no... doubt. I visited many other places in Oceania and pacific, this place is the best for the price. But as a person living outside Sri Lanka, I would say ownership must address the cleaning and hygiene of the premises to attract more foreigners into the business. Eatery area full of cluttered, and bird drops, cats and water leaks, no proper drainage to water water. etc etc. Restaurant staff waiting for customers to serve and mucking around not cleaning the benches.read more
