History of Ambuliwawa

The Ambuluwawa Tower is one of Sri Lanka’s most special landmarks. A testament to Sri Lanka’s dedication to Social hormony, Ambuluwawa was conceptualized as a place where people of different credence could come together.

Built in the early 2000s, Ambuluwawa Tower is more than just a tourist attraction. It’s a Symbol of Sri Lanka’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and unity. The initiative for its manufacture was lead by the Central Environmental Authority and the local government of gampola. The purpose was to create a unique space where people from different cleric backgrounds could come together in a spirit of coincide and mutual respect.

Gampola was once the capital of sri lanka during the gampola era. Which lasted from 1341-1357 AD. The city has a rich history of religious encompassing variety, making it an appropriate location for a multi-religious monument like the Ambuluwawa Tower.

The Ambuluwawa Tower, hill and forest area were fist developed in 1997. It first opened to the public on September 18,2007. Former Sri Lankan Prime Minister D. MU Jayarathna was the man behind the establishment’s inception.

Ambuluwawa Tower is known as “GOVI JAN A SEYA” in Sinhala. With a height of 55.5 meters, Ambuluwawa Tower is a cultural landmark that is quickly becoming increasingly famous as a tourist destination. It is perched on Top pf Ambuluwawa Mountain, which has on elevation of 1,356 meters above sea level. When you reach the summit, you are rewarded with views that stretch across the central hills and even as for as the seashore on a clarif day.

The first level is devoted to Buddhism, the second to Hinduism, the third to Islam, and the fourth to Christianity. The multilevel design makes the tower a unique representation of sri lanka’s diverse religious landscape.

The Ambuluwawa Tower is the initiatory Multi-Religious center in sri lanka. Within there, a temple, a kovil, a mosque, and a church stand in harmony, representing the nation’s peaceful living of diverse faiths. Mainly, the Ambuluwawa temple looks like a Buddhist “Stupa”, towering at a height of 48 meters.
Ambuluwawa provides a relatively easy hiking experience, showcasing 360-degree views of surrounding mountains, woodland, rivers and towns. The area boasts rich biodiversity, featuring evergreen forests,booming flowers, creepers and around 200 plant species from 80 plant familes, includind diverse medicinal plants.
